We can glean a great amount of information from our standard intake procedures. However, the evaluation of dizzy patients is more difficult due to symptoms that may point us to many possible diagnoses.
The Dizziness Handicap Inventory (DHI) is widely used in the assessment of dizziness-related disability and can help us distinguish between patients with compensated and uncompensated vestibular dysfunction. Categorizing the physical, functional and emotional impacts of dizziness can aid us in the differential diagnosis as well as lead to the best possible rehabilitative options for the patient.
Thank you for continuing to let us be a part of your comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to care. As Lincoln’s Center of Specialty Care for Balance, we look forward to helping your dizzy patients find answers and a plan of care.
